Previously, her cause-related marketing for The American Red Cross gave a voice to the homeless, people living with HIV, neighborhoods reeling after a disaster, blood and bone marrow recipients, and refugees. She’s written and edited for nonprofits ranging from The National Institutes of Health to The National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors to The Washington Ballet.Īs Head of Publications for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva, Switzerland, Kathryn lived and worked in Europe and Africa, travelling throughout the Middle East. Her articles also appeared in Kiplinger magazines, the Gazette newspapers, and Aspen health publications. Her first article was published by the Roanoke Times & World-News, and she continued to write for that newspaper until she moved to Washington, DC, where she became a researcher and writer for the National Geographic Society. She has a graduate degree in Publications Management from George Washington University. in English, with an emphasis in creative writing.
